Bio

  Nora Bite is a jazz guitarist, educator and composer from Latvia, based in London. Her music career has spanned 25 years. She has been a part of 150+ bands and projects in Latvia, the UK, Portugal, Italy, Boston (USA), Spain, Belgium, Egypt, Lithuania and Estonia, and has taught 600+ guitar students over many years in London, UK, Latvia and internationally over Zoom ( or Skype/Facetime). Past teaching experiences include working as a guitar mentor for a few years at USA based intensive online guitar school for intermediate and advanced players – Guitar Mastery Intensive ( Sonora) . Currently a guest lecturer. She has been an active member of the London jazz community since 2010, running one of the best weekly jazz jams for 4 years, composing for and leading her modern jazz trio , working as a session musician and side musician as well as being active online for some years. One of the many artists Nora has had the opportunity to share the stage with was the great, late Amy Winehouse.

Also shared stages/collaborated/recorded with Joey Blake, Ian Da Preda, Rob Haight, Lucy Merrilyn, Dave Swift, Laurie Lowe, Jamie Murray, Davide Pasqualini, Nick Pini, Benet Mclean and many others.

  She studied jazz guitar at Riga Dom Choir School (2005), have taken many private lessons with teachers based in London and occasional lessons with visiting guitarists ( from NYC), as well as few lessons online. Nora took part in Berklee summer school in Italy, Perugia (2008) , where she was studying with Berklee guitar professor Jon Damian ), as well as Jerry Bergonzi one week long summer workshop in Spain, Cadiz ( 2007). Outside of official studies and lessons with different instructors she was and is always continuing with self studying by transcribing and exploring multiple jazz guitar books.

   She is always curious about exploring new styles of music. Nora is comfortable with many different guitar techniques and Musical styles including jazz standards (swing), bebop, fusion, modern jazz, Bossa nova, latin music, flamenco (in the beginning of her musical career), blues, funk, soul, classical guitar, finger style chord melody, African guitar, avant-garde, jazz comping in duos (combining walking bass lines with chords) and bass guitar. Nora often plays jazz standard vocal and instrumental duos as accompanist, as well as trios and duos as a soloist.

  Nora has played in most of the important jazz clubs in London, such as “Ronnie Scotts”, “Vortex”, “606”, “Charlie Wrights” and others together with various artists and as well as a leader of multiple jazz projects.

  Before moving to London, back in Latvia she was leading her modern jazz quartet, and playing in many other projects, including big bands, as well as being part of international jazz concert management organisations. She was also giving regular guitar workshops in ”Madona Guitar sessions”, that happens once a year in the Latvian town Madona.
