Nora Bite bio
Nora Bite is a jazz guitarist, educator and composer from Latvia, based in London. She has been a guitarist for 20+ years, and has been a part of 100+ bands and projects in Latvia, the UK, Portugal, Italy, Boston (USA), Spain, Belgium, Egypt, Spain, Lithuania and Estonia. She has been an active member of the London jazz community since 2010, running one of the best weekly jazz jams for 4 years, composing and playing modern jazz, working as a session musician as well as serving a global music community on instagram with 20k following . One of the many musicians she has had an opportunity to share a stage with was the great, late Amy Winehouse.
She has a knowledge of many musical styles – studying each of them for a while. Flamenco rhythms, Blues, Blues-rock, Funk, Soul, Groove, Pop, Rock, African and world music, modern jazz, standard jazz, avant-garde.. She is also occasionally being booked as a bass player.
Her composing has many influences from world music and avant-garde as well as knowledge of jazz language and the grooves.
Noras music ( musical thinking & concepts ) has been compared with Ben Monder, Bill Frisell & Miles Davis.
Some of the musical concepts of Nora Bite trio are the use of space, creative, experimental and playful sound, lines are influenced by each of the musicians in the trio. Noras biggest influences for the trio sound is Gerald Clayton trio, Danilo Perez ( with Brian Blade and John Patituci ), Herbie Hancock trio ( Ron Carter and Tony Williams).
Few of the very favourite musicians of all time are Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins.

Nora Bite was born in Latvia, and has been London based since 2010. She has played around London jazz clubs and UK festivals with different projects and her own trio.
Last year she traveled to Boston, USA to play her written music with local musicians from there. She has also been hosting a weekly jazz jam in Hoxton for 4 years.
Her written music is a mixture of modern jazz, standard jazz, improvised music and groovy bass lines, which incorporates melodic improvisation as well as improvised “togetherness” with the band.
Some of Nora’s compositional and improvisation influences are Avishai Cohen, Bill Frissel, Pat Metheny, Lage Lund, Gilad Hekselman, Gerald Clayton, Danilo Perez, Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, Thelonius Monk and Sonny Rollins.

When this trio musicians play together they carefully listen to each other, playing off of each other’s ideas, and creating togetherness and band improvisations as well as some great solos from each of the musicians separately.
About the more regular musicians – Bass player Tim Fairhall is well known and respected in both the improvised music scene and standard jazz. His bass playing is strong and inventive. Drummer Jamie Murray has a solid groove and swing yet he is open minded, playful and experimental.
