Hi guitar and/or jazz loving folks. Few months ago I started posting guitar licks. And now I am finally posting the 10th one. I m adding extra “guitar lick” that isn’t really a lick but just a small part of one of my favourite Thelonious Monk tunes “Pannonica”. Loved that movie “Jazz Baroness” btw! Watch it if you have a chance! As Pannonica is connected to the story.

In the jazz guitar lick 10 I use ideas from one of my fav guitar books – Tim Miller and Mick Goodrick  “Creative chordal harmony for guitar.. ” … I am starting with playing over F7 chord. With a strange “cluster” chord g-d-eb, continuing with A Bb C notes and on to F7 and arpeggio  leading to chord that is F7/A. Then I move on to Em7b5 arpeggio , adding few “cluster chords” at the end. Then I move on to A altered chord clusters , and finish with Cm7 clusters (with sort of D in ‘lowest note” at first .. ) … Quite interesting cluster stuff in that book!

And regarding Monks Pannonica jazz guitar “lick” or I would rather call it finger style guitar stuff. It is really coming u with some chord and line stuff for Pannonica. I start with wide open C major scale based chord. It is mostly just Cmaj7 chord stuff adding The line that is connected to the melody. It goes to Ebm7 and then I use Ab7/Eb chord for the second part of second bar. Then it goes to the little chord or/and interval movement on the Dm7 starting on the fret 10 and using 3rd and 2nd string for intervals ( major 2nd and minor third) and then going to Dm9 on the fret 5, then Bb7 n the first fret, then using Bb7b5 in the middle to go to the 4th bar where finishing on Ebmaj7 chord ( while using triton substitution for second part of that bar – A7b5 guitar chord. In instagram there is limit of 15 seconds so all I could do there was to play one more bar of the tune. Witch was Ab7 ( adding melody on the second string and using few ways around the chord.. ) and then finishing that bar on the Db9. I m planning to hopefully publish full version of that pannonica finger style thing so keep yourself updated and follow this blog…
